![]() Pleasure Craft Operator Card Exam Changes: April 15, 2011
Transport Canada has implemented changes to the Pleasure Craft Operator Card exam. These changes affect both online and in-person exams.
New Exam Format
Transport Canada has published a new standardized 50 question test. Boaters who wish to take the exam online will be required to complete a 3 hours online study guide which contains 7 practice tests that must be successfully completed with 80% score before taking the exam. You must correctly answer a minimum of 38 exam questions to obtain a 75% passing grade.
Candidates wishing to do a written test may do so by challenging the online guide - Challenge Testing Available at the Park office. Appointment required 705-266-1555.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Procedures to be followed during challenge testing The test protocol shall be available for consultation, including an inspection by an agent of Transport Canada.
The person administering the test shall inform the candidate(s) that no communication will be allowed except with the person administering the test.
The person administering the test ensures that the only documentation available to the candidate(s) is a copy of the test and a worksheet to record answers.
The person administering the test will collected all copies of tests and worksheets prior to the candidate(s) exiting the test site.
The person administering the test will designate an area to be used solely for testing purposes for the duration of the test.
The person administering the test candidate(s) taking the test, and agents of Transport Canada are the only persons to have access to the test site.
The person administering the test, as an agent of BOATsmart! Canada, will only administer tests at premises under the control of BOATsmart! Canada.
The person administering the test ensures that the test site will conform to the description provided in BOATsmart! Canada's Test Protocol .
The person administering the test will ask the candidate to confirm that he/she has not taken a test from another course provider on the same day.
The person administering the test is to remove any candidate that has communication with someone other than the administrator and reject the answers for that test.
The person administering the test is to remove any candidate found with any materials other than those provided by the administrator and reject the answers for that test.
The person administering the test assures that the ratio of candidates to persons administering the test does not exceed 20:1
The person administering the test must be knowledgeable of all components of the Test Protocol and must follow the approved protocol.
