I am 24 years old, born, raised, and resident of Timmins. I have an elder sister, two nephews , and parents and grandparents who also live in Timmins. My friends believe me to be a loyal and persistent individual who is funny and not easily discouraged.
I attended Timmins High from 1998 to 2003 and was, for the most part, an average student excelling in Mathematics and history. I enjoyed several extra curricular programs such as track & field, and was well liked by my school mates who thought of me as a team player. I also maintained a good relationship with my teachers, two in particular.
During the later half of my schooling I held, at different times, three part-time jobs as a cashier, kitchen supervisor, and construction worker. These have provided me with excellent training and experiences I will be able to draw from in future carrier endeavors.
After finishing high-school I started working at Wawaitin Holiday Park where I now spend most of my time. My work here has been and continues to be beneficial to me and my employer. In 2003 I learned to operate and maintain all facets of an RV park including independent water, sewage and energy systems, and worked on several construction projects by assisting the company’s certified carpenter and electrician.
In 2004 I become knowledgeable in minor small engine repairs and proper and safe operation of water craft, all terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles. I am proud to have taken part in the planning and carrying into action of a seven day itinerary for a small group of German tourists who toured the Boreal forest in our area and visited our city for a week that summer.
For the 2005-7 operating seasons I was asked to take on some office responsibilities including electronic mail handling, invoicing, and developing marketing materials. I and am now familiar with accounting, word processing, and on-line computer software.
This experience in the tourism industry has helped me develop people skills from having to deal with many different types of clients.
I have completed a three year business administration program at Northern College and participated in a 5 week work placement in the Finance Department of Goldcorp's Porcupine Joint Venture. I believe that my past experiences, my strong drive and support from my family and employer, have given me the tools to succeed in obtaining honors standing at this course of study. I feel well prepared to begin my entry into the full-time work force.
February 2008.
